Good Earth Sandals are an elevated take on bohemian surf culture and folk arts & crafts. Handmade sandals for travelers, wanderers, artists, poets, musicians, and nature lovers.
Each pair of sandals is crafted from all-American materials, sourced from the oldest tannery located in the United States. Their leather comes from pasture-raised, North American steers, 25+ years or older. The leather tannery adheres to guidelines that allow for humane treatment of animals. The leather is vegetable tanned, drum dyed, and chemical-free.
Good Earth Sandals believes in making timeless, minimalist sandals that help us connect back to the earth. Every pair is one of a kind, designed and handmade at their flagship workshop in Hilo, Hawaii.

About Good Earth Sandals
Kevin McClosky, founder of Good Earth Sandals is a life-long lover of the outdoors. Growing up he spent his youth surfing, camping, and fly-fishing. Inspired by Thoreau and Robin Lee Graham’s book Dove, at age 19 he purchased a small boat which he lived aboard for three years, adventuring and learning how to live with less.
Many years later, after a fated invitation to a sandal-making class in the park, Kevin thought to himself, I have to do this. He sat on the ground and learned about the heritage of the huarache sandal while holding the raw materials of the earth in his hands. He loved that minimal elements and a sustainable process could make a durable — and beautiful — product. Shortly after setting up his shop in Hilo, in walked Samantha, the love of his life who now runs the company with him.
Kevin and Samantha live on Hawaii Island in a plantation home with their cat, Rainbow. They love to tend the garden together and play records on their beloved 1960’s record player.
